Cornerback:
5'10", 190 lbs., seventh NFL season.
The
San Diego Chargers added a proven starter at cornerback
when the team signed Alex Molden to a six-year contract
on March 7, 2001.
Molden
spent the first five years of his career with the
New Orleans Saints, where he helped lead a resurgence,
which saw the Saints make the playoffs last year,
their first post-season appearance since 1992. He
hopes his good fortune carries over to San Diego.
Molden,
the Saints' first-round pick in 1996, has an impressive
resume which includes 206 tackles, 8 interceptions,
6 sacks, and 47 passes defended.
He
was the first ever defensive back selected by New
Orleans in the first round of the NFL draft. He is
looking to build on a solid 2000 season in which he
set a high with three interceptions, including one
which sealed the Saints' win over the Chargers in
week two.
Molden
enjoys bowling, reading, and playing chess in his
free time. He enjoys helping children that need his
help. He is a graduate of the University of Oregon.
His hometown is Colorado Springs, Colorado.
