Alex Molden - a Champion for Children(tm)Alex Molden # 25
Champion for Children™

Cornerback: 5'10", 190 lbs., seventh NFL season.

The San Diego Chargers added a proven starter at cornerback when the team signed Alex Molden to a six-year contract on March 7, 2001.

Alex Molden during Charger practiceMolden spent the first five years of his career with the New Orleans Saints, where he helped lead a resurgence, which saw the Saints make the playoffs last year, their first post-season appearance since 1992. He hopes his good fortune carries over to San Diego.

Molden, the Saints' first-round pick in 1996, has an impressive resume which includes 206 tackles, 8 interceptions, 6 sacks, and 47 passes defended.

He was the first ever defensive back selected by New Orleans in the first round of the NFL draft. He is looking to build on a solid 2000 season in which he set a high with three interceptions, including one which sealed the Saints' win over the Chargers in week two.

Molden enjoys bowling, reading, and playing chess in his free time. He enjoys helping children that need his help. He is a graduate of the University of Oregon. His hometown is Colorado Springs, Colorado.
