History of Our Children Our Future
and
Intercept Hunger
Our Children Our Future
was founded on August 15, 1987. It's primary mission
has been to eradicate hunger by supplying hunger relief
organizations. These agencies have been: Catholic Charities
Food Resource Center, Episcopal Community Services,
47th Street Church of God, Clairemont Church of
God, and Reaching Forth Ministries.
Since 1987, Our Children
Our Future has distributed millions of dollars in food
resources in San Diego County. In
1994, Our Children Our Future became a 501(c)3 California
not-for-profit corporation.
In 1994, Intercept Hunger was conceptualized.
This program was then introduced to the San
Diego Chargers in 1996 and was well received. Intercept
Hunger's primary mission is to be a cause marketing
vehicle for the purpose of reducing hunger in each community
in which we operate. This is accomplished by fundraising
for select hunger relief organizations. Our secondary
mission is to educate our community about the cause
of hunger and how to reduce it.
The local beneficiary of Intercept Hunger
in San Diego is the Alpha Project for the Homeless.
Established in 1985, the Alpha Project provides housing
to over 600 very, very low income families and senior
citizens in San Diego.
The national beneficiary of Intercept Hunger
is Feed the Children (FTC). FTC supplies food to every
corner of the USA. They are located in every city that
Intercept Hunger has targeted for hunger
relief.
